Workshop Blocks
The Central Eastside is currently the most dynamic and evolving part of the central city. The growth of established and emerging businesses located in the Central Eastside has created an economic development success story unique to this district.

Client Notes
Transform three long-vacant city blocks in Portland’s Central Eastside into a vibrant new innovation hub that co-locates creative industrial, production, and manufacturing tenants. Provide flexibility and scalability, so that this new mixed-use development can support large, established businesses, small- and medium-sized operations, start-ups, and makerspaces – all of which are essential in a healthy economic ecosystem.
Designer Notes
Located in the central eastside industrial district adjacent to the Willamette River, the Workshop Blocks will play a major role in connecting the inner eastside neighborhoods to the river promenade and the planned “Green Loop." The design aims to create blended interior and exterior environments that will connect tenants with their neighborhood and invite the community in. It also accommodates a protected view corridor from downtown to Mount Hood.
