Todd Spangler

RA

Associate | Architect

Todd joined Hacker in 2020 when he relocated to Portland, Oregon, after spending nearly a decade studying and practicing architecture in Los Angeles, California. He does not center his experience upon specific project typology or region but rather a dedication to the craft. He is interested in assembling buildings artfully, thoughtfully, and intentionally in ways that can solve problems, express ideas, and inspire inhabitants.

At a different scale, Todd is equally interested in architecture as a component of urban design: a tool for creating more liveable, sustainable, and enjoyable cities. He is inspired by context, through both a historical and geographical lens, as well as regional materials and practices. Since moving to the Pacific Northwest, these interests have positioned him for multiple mass timber projects, including a high rise.

As a Senior Project Architect at Hacker, Todd remains dedicated to being a generalist. While he especially finds joy in architectural detailing and design, he participates in all stages of design and has substantial construction experience that informs his architectural process.

Studied: University of Southern California, Master of Architecture, 2013; Miami University, Bachelor of Arts: Architecture, Minor: Urban Design, 2009
