Philip Hall, University of Washington, Tacoma
For the University of Washington Tacoma, Philip Hall represents an inclusive process… a response to programmatic needs that exceeded expectations, a respect of the campus and community heritage, an innovation in assembling components that can effectively serve a number of purposes, an effective response to LEED requirements, and an attractive new beacon for the UWT campus and community.

Client Notes
Transform the heart of the historic central campus to create a campus community gathering place, engaging students and faculty during the design process. Allow for flexibility and innovation so that this space can be the center of campus social activities and events.
Designer Notes
Philip Hall is designed to be both front door and living room for the UW Tacoma campus – a place where students, staff, and the community can meet to study, socialize, and exchange ideas. The modern design responds to the proportions of the adjacent historic structures, and the transparent exterior keeps the interior spaces connected to the active streetscapes on either side.
