Ali Gens

Associate | Architectural Designer

Ali’s interest in the built environment spans many scales. Having worked on single- and multi-family residential projects, mixed-use housing and hotels, and commercial office buildings, Ali enjoys being nimble and bringing thoughtfulness and care to every design problem she tackles. She has broad experience serving both public and private clients.

Ali finds inspiration in cultivating a sense of place in her work. She aspires to design with sustainable, honest, and authentic materials for the building’s surroundings and inhabitants.

Since joining Hacker in 2019, Ali has contributed to two of Hacker’s iconic Portland projects. These projects include a residential tower located at the site of the old Sunshine Dairy and the Sylvania Health Technology Building at Portland Community College, a multi-building, multi-phased brutalist renovation that is among the most complex institutional projects Hacker has undertaken.
