The Sullivan’s Gulch Condominiums will sit at the cusp of a bustling, central commercial district and a vibrant residential neighborhood in inner Northeast Portland. At seven stories tall, this LEED Platinum project includes 162 new studio and townhome units, plus underground parking facilities to accommodate 256 bikes and 172 cars, and amenities including a fitness center, lounge, pet care station, and generous shared landscape decks with barbeques.

Drawing inspiration from the Missoula Flood and the natural forces unleashed on the region over a Millennia, the design for the Sullivan’s Gulch Condos includes wood detailing, monochromatic stucco, and fissure-like balconies – creating variations in the building plane that evoke the glacial carving and erosion that once formed Sullivan’s Gulch itself. The building is rotated on the site, reducing the scale from the street and emphasizing views to both Mt. Hood and downtown Portland. Townhouses on the street level reinforce the street edge, contributing to the activity to the sidewalk and maintaining the residential feel of the neighborhood. The design team engaged in extensive conversations with neighbors of the project during the design process to help ensure that the Sullivan’s Gulch Condominiums will be a welcome neighbor upon completion.
