Oregon Historical Society (OHS) is located on an entire downtown block in Portland’s cultural district. The Society occupies a series of buildings on the site which house galleries, offices, a research library and storage facilities.

The new Entry Pavilion serves as an admissions hall as well as a function space for events such as receptions and presentations. The circulation within the building complex becomes clear and direct, and visitors can move directly into exhibit spaces from the new lobby. A new elevator greatly simplifies access to the research library, while the entire Society – administration, education, exhibits and library – is unified. The project also includes the replacement of the existing plaza, which will be used for various exhibits and events. The plaza plays a vital role in connecting OHS to the City and Park Block context.
