Juneau Arts and Culture Center / Willoughby Arts Complex
Estimated completion: 2018
The new Juneau Arts and Culture Center will become the focal point for individual and communal artistic expression in Alaska’s capital city, and provide one of the first impressions of Alaska to visitors approaching by sea. With large windows on all sides and an outdoor courtyard, the JACC features stunning views of Mt. Roberts and Mt. Juneau, and the main entrance is oriented towards the rest of the city’s budding cultural district.
At 37,000 sf, the JACC will bring the community of Juneau a 300-seat theater complete with green room, dressing rooms, and a costume shop; an event studio for smaller productions; seminar rooms for classes and workshops; a suite of offices for staff and rental services; and a flexible 5000 sf community hall to serve celebrations and festivals, indoor markets, trade shows and workshops, and a wide range of community activities and programs.
